Create a Game
14 more days I heard!! Have a game day. The catch is the kids are creating the games. Here are the directions for 4th grade. You can make it your own! Here is a helpful website.
Create a Math Game
Challenge #1:
Create a game using the 100 chart.
- create a design on your 100’s chart
- create a list of questions students will have to answer to color in the squares.
- mix up the questions so the other students don't figure out the picture first.
For example if you want to have them color in the number 16, you might ask what would a common denominator for ¼, ⅛, & 1/16 be?
You must make it so the question has only one answer. For example:
If you want a student to choose the number 20, you would NOT say color in the two digit even number. This has many answers and would not target the number 20. A better question may be (10X4) ÷ 2= ?
You can use various math concepts learned this year this includes multi-step word problems. BE SURE THERE IS ONLY ONE ANSWER, or it will not work.
Challenge #2:
Create a board game! I will supply you with index cards and the “board”, you will create the questions, directions, and game options.
Steps:
- Name your game
- Create your directions
- Decide on game cards-for example: lose a turn, bonus question, triple points, go back to start.
- Create the cards that will advance the players throughout the game. You should number each card
- Create an answer key. On a piece of notebook paper you have to create two columns. One should be the card number and the other will be the answer to the question.
- A minimum of 20 cards should be included in the game. Again be sure to check your math and DO NOT just use equations ( 3+2=5) make it a challenge.
